Dr Tom Polito

Dr Tom Polito has been with the practice since November 2006, and became a partner in November 2007. Dr Polito runs surgeries every weekday except Wednesday. He is able to administer steroid/cortisone injections. Dr Polito qualified in Sheffield in 1995, his qualifications are MBChb.

Dr Rachel Aston

Dr Rachel Aston joined the practice in January 2009, and runs surgeries on Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday and Friday mornings. She has an interest in family planning and is trained to fit/remove contraceptive implants. Dr Aston qualified in Nottingham in 2004, her qualifications are BM BS DRCOG DFSRH.

Dr Victoria Finan

Dr Victoria Finan joined the practice in April 2014 and became a partner in November 2017. Dr Finan runs surgeries on Mondays and Thursdays. She qualified in Cambridge in 2006, her qualifications are MB, BChir & DRCOG. She has a particular interest in palliative care and is trained to fit contraceptive implants and coils.

Dr Walker joined the practice in May 2016 and runs surgeries on Monday afternoon and all day Wednesday and Friday. She qualified in Liverpool in 2010, and has a particular interest in palliative medicine.

Dr Charlotte Macdonald

Dr Charlotte Macdonald joined the practice in January 2018 and became a partner in October 2018. She runs surgeries on Monday and Thursday mornings and all day Wednesday. Dr Macdonald qualified from Leeds University in 2002, her qualifications are MBChB, DFSRH and MRCGP. She has been working as a GP since 2006 and in Harrogate from 2013. Dr Macdonald has a keen interest in reproductive and sexual healthcare and is trained to fit and remove contraceptive coils and implants.

Dr Imran Shaikh

Dr Shaikh joined the practice in June 2020 and runs surgeries all day on Monday and Wednesday and also on Tuesday morning. He qualified in 2010 with Degrees from York University and Leicester University and did his medical training around the East Midlands working in the Leicester hospitals and Northampton. He enjoys all aspects of General Practice.

 

Dr Elaine James

Dr James joined the practice in May 2023 and runs surgeries on a Tuesday morning and Wednesday all day. She qualified her MRCGP IN July 1998 and a DRCOG in October 1998. Dr James has a keen interest in the menopause.

 

Dr Roshanara Ali

Dr Ali joined the practice in October 2023 and runs surgeries on a Tuesday afternoon, Wednesday all day and a Friday morning. She qualified in 2005 with an MBBS Barts in London and enjoys all aspects of General Practice.

Practice Nurses & Healthcare assistants

We share a team of nurses and healthcare assistants with East Parade Surgery; they provide a wide range of care and services such as annual reviews for chronic diseases/conditions such as asthma, diabetes, COPD or hypertension, wound care and dressings, stitch removal, childhood immunisations, seasonal flu vaccinations, B12 injections, blood pressure checks, NHS Healthchecks and contraceptive reviews.

We work alongside a district nursing team, and mental health first contact practitioners. 

Health Visitor

We work with a Health Visitor team who cover the Harrogate district. For routine baby weighing you are asked to go to the drop in baby clinics (please note that you need to arrive 15 minutes before the finish time):

  • Monday: Bilton Children’s Centre (Woodfield school) 9.30am to 10.45am or Knaresborough Children’s Centre (Manor Rd school) 9.30am to 11.30am
  • Tuesday: Harrogate Library, Victoria Avenue 1.30pm to 2.45pm session run on the first Tuesday of every month, Starbeck Library 10.00am to 11.30am
  • Wednesday: Harrogate North Children’s Centre, Saltergate school 9.15am to 10.45am
  • Thursday: Harrogate Town Children’s Centre (Wedderburn) 1.00pm to 2.30pm
  • Friday: Stockwell Road Surgery, Knaresborough 10.30am to 11.30am
